According to CNET, the first 3 months of Google Music have not been going so well. The company hoped to utilize the 200 million Android phone users, but it’s ultimately been a failure up until this point. With music users slowly escaping the download era, and getting into stream services like Spotify, Google is a bit out of touch. Google has made it clear they aren’t worried. They plan to launch a hardware aspect to Google Music (much like an iPhone or iPod) sometime in the near future. That’s when they will launch the full marketing campaign for the service. Until then, we’ll just have to wait and see how they hold up.
I hope they don’t shut down the service. I uploaded nearly 5000 tracks, and then lost my computer…it’s my only source of my tunes!
