The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that it will now include streaming in its process of designating the certification of songs. Streams that are valid will come from on-demand audio or video streaming, including platforms such as MOG, Muve Music, Rdio, Rhapsody, Slacker, Spotify, Xbox Music, MTV.com, VEVO, Yahoo! Music, YouTube and more.
To reflect this decision, RIAA has recalculated the status of many singles and using their new criteria, has changed their certification. For example, Cash Out’s “Cashing Out” is now Gold, while Drake’s “Started From the Bottom” is now platinum.
