The singer gets community service and probation after he admits he shared ecstasy with a female, but allegations that he “slipped” her drug were unfounded

CeeLo Green has pleaded no contest to one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance, stemming from a July 2012 incident where the singer was accused of slipping ecstasy to an unknowing 33-year-old female. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that the singer was “immediately sentenced by Superior Court Judge Mark Young to three years of formal probation and ordered to complete 360 hours of community service.” Green must also complete 52 Alcohol Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

As part of the no contest plea, the singer was not given jail time. Green was told to return to court on March 2, 2015 for a progress report.

TMZ reports, as per the plea, that Green admitted he “shared” ecstasy with the female but he did not “slip” her the drug. The woman originally alleged that she was at a Los Angeles bar with the former Voice judge before blacking out and eventually waking up naked in Green’s bed. However, TMZ says there were issues with the woman’s story, including witnesses who claimed to see her walk out of the bar “looking fine” alongside Green. TMZ added that the singer will spend his 360 hours of community service helping out at the MusiCares Foundation of the Recording Academy.

“Given that the matter is under investigation, we obviously cannot speak as freely as we’d like,” Green’s rep said in a statement when the allegations first surfaced. “What we can say is that these allegations are despicable, untrue, and deeply hurtful to CeeLo, his children and his family. We are confident that when all the facts come out, it will be clear that if anyone was victimized here, it was CeeLo. In the meantime, CeeLo is deeply grateful for the overwhelming support he has received from his fans, his friends, and his colleagues.”
