Nicki Minaj performs with Skylar Grey

Singer and rapper Nicki Minaj showed a different side of her during the American Music Awards (AMA) 2014.
Hollywod Life reported that in the recently conducted event, Minaj sang “Bed of Lies” with singer Skylar Grey. However, she gave out a tuned down performance instead of her usual raunchy antics.

According to the site, “Bed of Lies” is one of Minaj’s most emotional songs to date. Singer Skylar even noted that the single is very much different from her usual music.
“She kind of poured her heart out on the verses. I personally think as a fan it’s a nice contrast to her other singles on the record. You get to see another side of her,” the 28-year-old told Billboard magazine.

According to Eurweb, the song “Bed of Lies” reportedly speaks about Minaj and her relationship with former boyfriend, Safaree Samuels.
In the song, the singer allegedly opened up about her ex, confirmed about her break up with the rapper and revealed the reason for the split.
An excerpt of the lyrics of the song read: “You could never make eye contact/ Everything you got was based off of my contacts/ You a fraud, but I’mma remain icon-stat./ Balenciaga’s on my boots with the python strap./ You was caught up in the rush, and you was caught up in the thrill of it./ You was with me way before I hit a quarter mil’ in it/ Put you in the crib and you ain’t never pay a bill in it/ I was killin’ it, man you got me poppin’ pills in it.”
Minaj and Samuels had been rumored to have dated and broken up, but the two had not made any official confirmation about it.
“Bed of Lies” is one of the songs in Minaj’s new album, “The Pinkprint,” which will be released on December 15, 2014.
In an interview with MTV, the singer/rapper talked about the new style and sound that fans will be hearing in her new album.
“In the features, I don’t really delve into no really deep sh-t. And with the album…there’s so much for me to talk about. I know my fans are going to be excited about it,” shared Minaj.
