Kygo and Apple Music today (June 30) announced a partnership that will position the tropical house artist as a face of the new streaming service.

The partnership will include an outdoor promotional campaign, video content and a track release. Additionally, the Norwegian producer now appears playing piano on Apple Music’s splash page.

“My excitement to work with Kygo on this idea was abundantly clear to anyone who was within five feet of me these past few weeks — I couldn’t stop talking about it,” says Larry Jackson, Apple Music head of content. “More than being a great DJ and producer, this guy is an impressive musician, and a lot of people are just discovering that.”

Kygo acknowledges that his career has been “built around streaming” — from his breakthrough on SoundCloud to his current success on Spotify, where his first single “Firestone” has garnered more than 212 million streams.

“I’ve really enjoyed working together with Apple to help launch their new streaming service,” says Kygo. “It is really cool to see Apple getting involved.”

To mark the partnership, Kygo also teamed up with fellow Norwegian act a-ha to remake their classic hit “Take On Me.” The rework will soon be available for streaming on Apple Music — which launches today.
