Rock band Fall Out Boy and rapper Kid Cudi are going head-to-head for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week.

Industry sources suggest that their latest albums — “Save Rock and Roll” and “Indicud,” respectively — are on course to sell around 145,000 by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, April 21.

The new Billboard 200 chart’s top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, April 24.

For Fall Out Boy, “Save Rock and Roll” would mark its second chart-topper, following 2007’s “Infinity On High.” Their last studio effort, 2008’s “Folie a Deux,” debuted and peaked at No. 8 with 150,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (The album came out in the thick of the Christmas shopping season that year, so the chart was a lot more competitive than usual.)

As for Kid Cudi, his new “Indicud” saw its release date pushed forward only recently, jumping from April 23 to April 16 after the set leaked to the Internet. The artist made the announcement via Twitter on April 10.

Kid Cudi has yet to claim a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, though he’s tallied a pair of top five entries with “Man On the Moon: The End of the Day” (No. 4 in 2009) and “Man On the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager” (No. 3 in 2010). [Billboard.biz]
