“Twenty-seven-year-old Rap-A-Lot Records has signed its latest distribution partnership. James “J.” Prince’s Houston, Texas-based label has released heralded albums from Geto Boys (Making Trouble), Scarface (The Diary), Devin The Dude (Just Tryin’ To Live), Bun B (Trill O.G.) and The Convicts 1991 self-titled effort throughout its discography. This week, the label announced its partnership with New York’s Sony RED.
Sony RED distributes for such labels as Cinematic Entertainment, Abandoned Nation and Infamous Music.
In the press release, Rap-A-Lot claimed to still be a label home to Z-Ro, as well as Bun B. The UGK co-founder is said to be releasing an album this October. Previously, Bun released three installments of his Trill series. The Port Arthur, Texas icon’s fourth solo album is said to feature 2 Chainz and Rick Ross.”
