Shaheem started out hustling his way into interviews while writing for his college’s newspaper. From there, he worked his way up the Vibe Magazine corporate ladder. Finally, after a brief stint in the online realm, Sha made his move to MTV. This is where he got a hold of the ladle. Sha was one of the original creators of MTV’s Hottest MC’s show, and the web series Mixtape Monday. The decisions of him and his cohorts have been the cause of controversy every year since both features have been created.

In our feature with Sha, we talk about the creation of MTV’s Hottest MC’s show. We discuss where the original idea came from, and how it developed to what it is today.
