Yuna flips the braggadocio of Drake’s “0 to 100” on a gorgeous new loosie built from the same sample, called “Broke Her.” Here, the plucked strings stand for sorrow and not menace: a dude’s left her for a basic chick. But Yuna sings with calm strength, flexing like Drake—just quieter.

“The first time I heard Adam Feeney and Chester Stone Hansen’s ‘Vibez’ it was used in Drake’s ‘0-100’ as a sample,” Yuna told The FADER via email. “We found the original song and I immediately loved it, it was really beautiful and I was singing random words to it and thought I should record this. I finally wrote a full song to it and recorded the vocals in my bedroom by myself.”

The 28-year-old hijabista, now based in LA, released an album last year. A new remix of album cut “Lights and Camera,” featuring G-Eazy, was released in November.
