Brandon Flowers has announced the title of his forthcoming solo album ‘The Desired Effect’, as well as a release date of May 18.

The Killers frontman broke the news via a note posted onto his Twitter page. 

“We will finally achieve The Desired Effect. Ariel [Rechtshaid, producer] and I have been collaborating in the studio, working twogether [sic] in the spirit of conversation, contention, and at long last, sweet contrition,” Flowers wrote. “Noone has yet seen or heard the change. But soon we all will.”

Flowers has been working with Rechtshaid on the follow-up to 2010’s ‘Flamingo’ while The Killers are on hiatus. Last weekend, the singer teased new music in a video posted on YouTube, which you can watch below.

Speaking to NME recently, the 33-year-old said that his second solo album is “definitely going to be different”.

Flowers expanded: “Even though I’m still young, you can start to get set in your ways. Change is good and there’s always growth, I’m always looking for that.

“It’s nice to steer the ship and that’s what you’d think I’d do on my own album, but I’m letting Ariel take over every now and then. That’s led to some really exciting things and sounds I would never have used. As I’ve gotten older I’m much more open to that – I’m much more open to peoples’ strengths and really trying to utilise them – and that’s where Ariel comes into the picture. He’s really knowledgeable about every genre; it’s pretty incredible what he’s able to reference and pull out. It’s definitely going to be different, but I’m still in the thick of it, hammering away.”

The Killers last released an album in 2012 in the form of ‘Battle Born’.
