Preliminary reports indicate that Google Drive will become available next week with up to 5GB free storage space for all. Earlier reports noted that the long-awaited cloud storage service would make its official debut sometime this week, but that no longer appears to be the case. Instead, Google Drive will reportedly launch next week, bestowing all interested users with free storage to play with right out of the gate. While Dropbox only offers users 2GB, Google is certainly banking on that extra storage space to entice users to shift their allegiances. With Apple, Amazon and Microsoft having already entered into the cloud, only time will tell if Google’s attempt will pan out more like their successful launches, or if it will see slow adoption or limited success like Google+.
