First giving honor to Beyonce, who is the head of my pop charts, I would like the Beygency and all of its agents to know that TSS had nothing to do with the recent study, which argues that smart people do not listen to Beyonce.
Software application writer Virgil Griffith had to know that he was playing a risky game when he began to track musical tastes based on the average SAT scores of several colleges throughout the country, and came to his obviously incorrect conclusion, but I suppose some people like to live dangerously.
Griffith’s chart, which he named Musicthatmakesyoudumb, argues that the smartest people listen to Beethoven instead of Beythoven. Other acts on the smartypants section of his chart include Surfjan Stevens and Radiohead. The act that occupies the “dumbest” section of Griffith’s research? Lil Wayne. Yikes. Between Tyga recently blasting his label mates Drake and Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne’s music being branded the soundtrack for the glue eaters of the world, Young Money is having a rough week. Also, please take note that both Kanye (#77) and Jay Z (#121) rank higher than Beyonce (#129), who barely nudged out T.I. (#130) to claim her spot.
Only Virgil Griffith, who is sure to succumb to the Beyhive’s deadly stings soon enough, is in more trouble.
