You saw this mash-up coming, didn’t you
Last week, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar indirectly led the entire pop culture community in on their pieced together love affair, via radio interviews and Instagram posts. We’ve known for some time that Taylor was a fan of Kendrick’s good kid, m.A.A.d. city album, but we discovered a brand new side to her this week. First, during one of Kendrick’s radio interviews, he randomly broke out in song, specifically, Taylor’s #1 hit “Shake It Off,” which he admitted he’s an avid fan of. Then, in celebration of selling a gazillion copies of her new album 1989–just under 1.3 million to be exact–in it’s first week on the shelves, Taylor celebrated by rapping Kendrick’s “Backseat Freestyle” pretty flawlessly on her Instagram. Kendrick, not to be outdone, freestyled over the “Shake It Off” instrumental later that same day. So, thanks to The Hood Internet, experts at mash-ups–check their Soundcloud if you don’t believe us–we now have the first seamless unofficial Kendrick Lamar f/ Taylor Swift situation. Or Taylor Swift f/ Kendrick Lamar. Whichever you prefer.
