Blink-182 are set to hit the studio to begin work on a new album.

After headlining Reading and Leeds in the summer, the band will now record an LP within the “next few weeks”. The record in question will be the band’s seventh studio effort, following on from 2011’s ‘Neighborhoods’. It’ll be the group’s first full-length since parting with long-term label Interscope.

Speaking to Wondering Sound, frontman Tom DeLonge said Blink have their “very first big writing session” coming up where they’ll “get together and lay down our first tracks” for the release.

DeLonge added that they hope to release the album “by summer”, “but we will see”.

Elsewhere in the interview, the pop-punk singer discusses the 15th anniversary of ‘Enema Of The State’. “I just knew it was our best record,” he says. “We [came] out with this record and out of nowhere, the label goes, ‘Holy fuck, there’s something here’. It caught them by surprise.”

Blink-182’s latest release was the ‘Dogs Eating Dogs’ EP in December 2012. Meanwhile, DeLonge will release a new album with his band Angels & Airwaves on Halloween.
