Sharing is caring, unless you’re talking about Spotify. The streaming music giant has announced a new subscription that makes it easier for the whole family to get their own dang customized account under one bill. “Spotify Family” allows any premium subscriber to add up to four family members to an account at 50 percent off, which would amount to $29.99/month for a clan of five.
Spotify says each family member will have premium accounts, with separate listening histories, recommendations and playlists. Up until now, the service has maintained a one subscriber/one account plan. The family model has become a standard for mobile phone carriers.
“This is one of the most asked for features from our audience,” says Ken Parks, Chief Content Officer at Spotify. “With today’s announcement we’re making it easier than ever for the whole family to experience Spotify Premium on their phones, at home and on the go.”
