The controversial rapper’s stint on a major label might be over.

This certainly seems like a long time coming: Interscope Records has reportedly dropped Chief Keef. It isn’t quite surprising; Keef has had legal issues for years and his relationship with the label always seemed contentious.

“Keef and his people tried to keep the label accountable [once Keef moved to Los Angeles)] but Interscope didn’t seem interested in dropping a new album. Keef’s team tried to have formal meetings but nothing moved,” an anonymous source tells AllHipHop.

While Keef’s long-promised Bang 3 has possibly been scuttled earlier, the mostly self-produced Back from the Dead 2 is due out on Halloween. AHH reports that Keef has a new album that will “probably” be released next year through his Glory Boyz Entertainment imprint.

Until any of these releases drops, check out FACT’s rundown of Chief Keef’s weird-and-wonderful releases.

Update: Keef has confirmed the news via Twitter, promising that everything will still drop on schedule.
