Grammy-nominated songwriter Kevin Kadish, who co-wrote and produced Meghan Trainor‘s “All About That Bass,” has signed an exclusive worldwide administration deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the company announced on Thursday. The long-term pact includes “Bass,” which tops the Hot 100 for a seventh week, and seven other co-writes on Trainor’s upcoming debut album, Title, due Jan. 13 on Epic Records.
“We’re really excited at Sony/ATV to have Kevin Kadish as an exclusive songwriter,” said Martin Bandier, Sony/ATV chairman and CEO. “‘All About That Bass’ is clearly one of the biggest songs of the year and we know there is a lot more to come from him.”
The success of “Bass” has made Trainor one of the year’s biggest breakout stars — the song ties Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy” for the longest Hot 100 rule by a woman this year. Kadish also co-wrote and produced followup single “Lips Are Movin.”
In addition to Trainor, Kadish has collaborated with Miley Cyrus, Jason Mraz, Meat Loaf, Willie Nelson, Stacie Orrico and Steve Perry, among others. His behind-the-scenes work on Mraz’s Mr. A-Z release earned him a Grammy nomination for best engineered album.
“I’m excited to start this new chapter in my career with Sony/ATV,” Kadish said in a press release announcing the signing. “From their amazing creative staff, to their thorough collections, I think they’re the perfect fit for me. I’m honored to be in the Sony family.”
