Meet Reggie Hawkins and Ron Mills. They are the directors for Sirius/XM’s Hip-Hop Nation, and Shade 45 channels. Their job is to bring something different to the radio. They want you to hear cursing; they want you to hear banter that should be banned, and most of all they want you to hear new talent. Whether it’s the song being played, or the Jock playing it. They want to break new talent into the mainstream of music, and are having a successful time at it. Both are extremely confident in the product they put on the radio, and are not afraid to offend their political connects. In this interview, I could tell their attitude was something shared by all of those that work in this building. They are not the norm. They are the outsiders that are leading a revolution in radio, and they aren’t backing down anytime soon.
