he Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will once again dip into two separate weekends in 2013, after successfully debuting the six-day model — with the same lineup for each weekend — in 2012.
The festival’s official websiteannounced on Monday (May 14) that next year’s event will run from April 12-14 as well as April 19-21. Advance tickets go on sale this Thursday at 10:00 pm PDT, while general passes will be released early in 2013.
Last year, Coachella founder and producer Paul Tollett, president of Goldenvoice, told Billboard that the festival’s expansion was meant to address the demand that the Indio, Calif. festival created. “We had too many people who wanted to go [in 2011],” Tollett told Billboard.biz this morning. “We feel that [in 2012] there will be even more that want to go, so we’re trying to create more room for them. The options would be to sell more tickets on one weekend or have two weekends, and [the latter] is the option we went with.” –Billboard
