It was in development and nearing completion when MegaUpload was raided. In fact, some theorize it was a driving motivation for the raids in the first place. Which might be why Kim Dotcom is still planning to launch the idea, and breathe life into a model that would pay artists 90 percent of all download earnings. And, actually compensate artists on free downloads.
We’re not sure of the ‘when’ or ‘how,’ but Dotcom just told Torrentfreak that this is definitely in the works. And, he’s telling the world that MegaUpload is plotting a comeback – and wants revenge. That includes targets like Universal Music Group and the RIAA, both of whom were overjoyed when MegaUpload took a fall. In fact, UMG went on the offensive after learning of a flashy artist sponsorship campaign that involved big-label stars like will.i.am, Kanye West, and Game (just to name a few).
Here’s a screenshot of the beta MegaBox, taken one month before the FBI raids.
Meanwhile, Dotcom’s legal team is fighting ferociously against the massive weight of a US Government lawsuit, while pushing to expose what Dotcom believes is a top-level conspiracy orchestrated by Hollywood and the ‘highest levels’ of government. –Digital Music News
