Myisha Brooks of Universal Republic Records has been promoted to the position of VP, Publicity.
Previously working with Arista Records, Warner Bros. Records and Simone Smalls PR, Brooks had served as Director of Publicity for Universal Republic since 2009, managing exposure on television, the Internet and in print for a number of high profile artists such as Kelly Rowland, Nas and Damian Marley, Kid Cudi, Nelly, and others. Reporting to SVP and head of publicity at Universal Republic, Jay Wilson, Brooks will continue to work with the development, execution and supervision of many public relations campaigns.
In a statement, Wilson said, “Myisha’s hard work and dedication make her an essential asset to the company. Her tireless efforts and unique perspective are both impressive and inspiring. She’s elevated the department to a new level, and I’m thrilled to work with her on all of the great projects we have on the horizon.”
“Working with Jay Wilson has been a great experience. When I first joined the team, our department consisted of only three publicists handling a roster of mostly new artists,” said Brooks in the statement. “Crafting and implementing strategies for these acts proved to be one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my career.”
Before moving to Universal Republic, Brooks was a senior account executive at Simone Smalls, in charge of PR for artists such as Usher and Claude Kelly.
