According to The Source, 2 Chainz has officially inked his pub deal with Reservoir Media. Reservoir is already the publishing home to artists like Lil’ Jon, Danja (formerly Danjahandz) and more. You can check out the full press release below:

Reservoir is pleased to announce the signing of Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz to an exclusive worldwide publishing deal. The deal includes a 200-plus song catalog, including 2 Chainz’ forthcoming album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, to be released by Def Jam Recordings on August 14th.

The deal was spearheaded by seasoned industry A&R executive and Reservoir Senior Vice President of Creative and Business Development, Faith Newman.

“I was introduced to 2 Chainz by Def Jam’s Senior Vice President of A&R, Sha Money, who had just signed him,” Newman, a Def Jam alum herself, remembers. “I loved that 2 Chainz was a veteran of the business, with a new major label deal, but underground at the same time,” she explains. “He has a unique flow, look, and persona, and you feel that charisma when you meet him in person.” The combination of 2 Chainz’ own star quality and the vote of confidence from Sha Money sealed the deal for Newman.

Says 2 Chainz, “The key to my success has been building a stellar team of hand-selected people with the skill and know-how to match my vision. I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with Reservoir’s exceptional group of professionals. Artists depend on strong publishing representation and today, I believe I have secured that.”

“I see 2 Chainz as a career artist,” Newman observes. “He has already developed into a cultural tastemaker. He can easily expand into other ventures like acting or product endorsement. His social media presence is pretty astounding; some days he averaged more than 300 new Twitter followers an hour. He’s also a great live performer who knows how to work a crowd.”

2012 has been a big year for 2 Chainz. He currently holds the top two spots on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Kanye West’s platinum-selling single “Mercy,” featuring 2 Chainz along with Big Sean and Pusha T, is at #1 for the 5th week in a row, followed by the lead single from Based on a T.R.U. Story, “No Lie” featuring Drake, at #2 with a bullet.

Based on a T.R.U. Story has quickly become one of the summer’s most anticipated albums. The album’s second single, “Birthday Song” featuring Kanye West, was released on July 24th. The album also features several other high profile guest artists including Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown.

Reservoir is proud to be involved in this pivotal moment in 2 Chainz’ career and anticipates nothing but growth and success for him as Atlanta’s latest and greatest hip-hop star.
