The ‘Born To Die’ singer explained that working in the movie industry would be her ‘happy place’ in an interview with Vogue Australia.
“When I was starting, I had a vision of being a writer for film and that’s what I am doing now. I’m so happy,” said Del Rey, real name Lizzie Grant.
She continued: “Hopefully I will branch into film work and stay there. That will be my happy place. I’d like to stay in one place for a long time.”
Del Rey also revealed that she often feels uncomfortable when onstage. “I love to take care of the songs – that’s my natural place – then, when I get on stage that’s not my element,” said the singer. “Sometimes I kneel down because I am trembling or touch the audience because I don’t know what else to do. But the nice thing about the kids is that they feel bad for me, and pass me soft toys!”
Last month three new tracks by Lana Del Rey leaked online. ‘Big Bad Wolf’, ‘Playing Dangerous’ and ‘Afraid’ followed news that she had signed a deal with Jaguar to become the face of their new sports car.
Del Rey is also currently appearing in a new advertising campaign for Swedish fashion brand H&M. H&M will release a video of her covering Bobby Vinton’s 1963 track ‘Blue Velvet’ as part of the campaign. It will be released in full on H&M’s website on September 19, and a condensed version of the short will later air as a television commercial.
Del Rey will appear at London’s iTunes Festival on September 25. [NME]
