We were delighted to welcome London DJ/Producer Ikonika to the Point Blank studios to give some insight into her techniques in the studio. She has released tracks on forward thinking labels like Planet Mu, Hyperdub and her own Hum + Buzz imprint that she co-runs with Optimum.

In the session Ikonika talks about how she made the move from being in a punk band to producing bass driven club music, how she secured her first release on Hyperdub and her overall approach to production. We get an exclusive behind the scenes look at the title track off her latest EP ‘I Make Lists’ including how she approaches structure & arrangement, layering synths for a weighty bass, adding effects to maintain interest as the track evolves, the mixdown process and loads more.
