Michael Paull, EVP of Sony Music’s global digital business, has left the company for Amazon, a source confirmed to Billboard.biz. The source said Paull has already left the company and added that the parting was amicable.
A report in All Things D, which first reported the news on Saturday, said that his role will be a new position, VP of content acquisition and business development.
Paull had been with Sony digital since 2008, having previously served at Fox Entertainment, Sony Pictures, AOL Time Warner and other companies in either digital of business development roles.
Amazon posted its first quarterly net loss in four years earlier this week. The company launched its cloud-music service in March of last year without obtaining licenses from labels, but has since negotiated deals with them and other rights holders. [Billboard.biz]
