John Hirai, who heads music for YouTube Japan & Korea, claims the deal with VEVO is likely to be renewed for at least a few more years, if it hasn’t been already, Digital Music News reports.  “There are some things that were written in the press that are not entirely true, because I’ve been involved in the negotiations myself,” Hirai said recently at MU:CON in Seoul. “But what I can tell you is that I think you’ll see YouTube and VEVO continue to have a partnership for the next coming years.” Hirai declined to offer any specific stats on the pervcentage of VEVO views emanating from YouTube, citing Google policy. “But I think all of their viewcounts, including their website, I’d have to think a majority comes from YouTube.” he said. We have a sneaking suspicion PSY is behind this whole thing. [HitsDailyDouble]
