Long-established publicity firm 2:30, founded in 1997, and relative newcomer Grandstand Media & Management, founded in 2012, have merged, it was announced today in a statement. “With a combined 50 years of experience…” begins the introduction to Grandstand Media & Management’s new website.
Lisa Goththeil and Dana Erickson, 2:30’s founders, have been named partners in the new venture, along with Grandstand founders Kate Jackson and Meghan Helsel. The new company represents over 65 musical acts — including The xx, Twin Shadow, Japandroids, Solange — as well as events such as Seattle’s Capitol Hill Block Part and Bumbershoot.
Dana Erickson was at Epic Records previous to founding 2:30, while Gottheil put in two years at TAG Recordings, the Atlantic imprint founded in 1996 to holster independent-associated bands such as Jawbox. (The TAG name is now owned by Jermaine Dupri.)
Grandstand’s Kate Jackson spent five years at the indie powerhouse Sub Pop as director of marketing and publicity before leaving to found the new company. Helsel was vice president of media and PR firm Jensen Communications, working with clients from indie bands to Toyota, and helped found its artist management division in 2008.
The company is based in both Los Angeles and New York. [Billboard.biz]
