Island/IDJ has inked a pact with Grammy-winning producer-DJ Afrojack and his label, Wall Recordings. The first fruit of the deal will be the single “As Your Friend,” featuring Chris Brown, which officially goes to Pop and Rhythm this week after making some impressive noise in the EDM world. Internationally the track will be released by Wall, Island UK and UMG-owned PM:AM Recordings. Afrojack shared a Grammy for the David Guetta remix of Madonna‘s “Revolver” and was nominated twice as co-writer/co-producer of Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now”; he also produced, co-wrote and performed on Pitbull‘s mega-selling “Give Me Everything.” President of Global Marketing Andrew Kronfeld declared, “Afrojack is one of the most important and prolific artists, DJs and producers in the world and we’re incredibly excited that he’s chosen to partner with us for the next stage in his career.” Added Island prez David Massey, “Afrojack has won global acclaim for his production genius, and Barry WeissSteve BartelsKaren Kwak and I did everything in our power to ensure that he join us.” “I want to take my music to the next level, both creatively and from a business point of view,” said Afrojack (born Nick van de Wall in the Netherlands). “Partnering up with Island Records will give me the chance to do both, so I am very happy we were able to make a deal.
