As previously reported, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop,” featuring Wanz, returns to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fifth cumulative week, narrowly edging out Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” after the latter song, which continues to lose viral momentum, led the past five weeks. Who else makes news on the Hot 100 and other song charts this week?

— will.i.am: Will’s No. 3-peaking “Scream & Shout” falls out of the Hot 100’s top 10 (8-11), but follow-up “#thatPOWER,” featuring Justin Bieber, scores Hot Shot Debut honors at No. 42. The new song starts at No. 9 on Hot Digital Songs with 108,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, marking will.i.am’s fifth top Digital top 10 (apart from the Black Eyed Peas) and Bieber’s 15th, extending the latter’s record for the most top 10s among male singers (i.e., non-rappers). The song should debut on the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart next week. It previews his forthcoming album, #willpower.

(And, while the “#” symbol has appeared on the Hot 100 before, in John Lennon’s “#9 Dream” (which reached No. 9, appropriately enough, in 1975), for example, mark the latest case of the chart reflecting cultural trends: “#thatPOWER” is the Hot 100 100’s first title to feature a hashtag.)

— Zedd: The 23-year-old Russian/German producer makes his Hot 100 debut with his former No. 1 Dance Club Songs hit “Clarity,” featuring Foxes, at No. 86. It concurrently begins at No. 38 on Mainstream Top 40 and holds at its No. 4 peak on Dance/Mix Show Airplay.

— Justin Bieber: As he bows on the Hot 100 with will.i.am (see above), Bieber also returns at No. 90 with “All Around the World,” featuring Ludacris. The collaboration debuted at No. 22 the week of June 23, 2012, as a preview single for Bieber’s album Believe. Now the radio follow-up to the top 10s “Boyfriend” (No. 2), “As Long as You Love Me” (No. 6) and “Beauty and a Beat” (No. 5), it pushes 30-25 on Mainstream Top 40.

— Imagine Dragons: The band halts the 18-week command of the Lumineers’ “Ho Hey” on Hot Rock Songs, as “Radioactive” ignites 2-1. (It pushes 18-15 on the Hot 100.) The song ascends with Streaming Gainer honors, as it returns to the Streaming Songs top 10 (12-10; 3.3 million streams, up 9%, according to Nielsen BDS) for the first time since Feb. 23, when it reached a No. 6 highpoint. The track spends a sixth week at No. 1 on Alternative and is now being serviced to mainstream and adult top 40 radio. Parent album Night Visions concurrently bounds 7-1 on Top Rock Albums (29,000 copies sold, up 3%). The set previously topped the Jan. 12 tally.

— Maroon 5: “Daylight” (No. 12 on the Hot 100) rises 2-1 on Mainstream Top 40, padding the quintet’s record for the most No. 1s (six) by a group in the airplay chart’s 20-year history. Among multi-member acts, Boyz II Men rank second with four No. 1s, followed by 3 Doors Down, Ace of Base, the Black Eyed Peas, No Doubt and Savage Garden (three each). Among all acts, Maroon 5 ties Beyonce and Mariah Carey’s six No. 1s apiece. The trio trails Katy Perry and Rihanna (nine each), P!nk (eight) and Lady Gaga and Britney Spears (seven each).

“Daylight” is the third No. 1 from Maroon 5’s album Overexposed, following “Payphone,” featuring Wiz Khalifa, and “One More Night.” The set becomes just the second by a group to yield a trio of Mainstream Top 40 chart-toppers, following Ace of Base’s The Sign in 1993-94 (“All That She Wants,” the title cut and “Don’t Turn Around”).

— Drake: He extends his own record on Rap Airplay, as “Started From the Bottom” lifts 2-1 to become his 16th No. 1. (Kanye West ranks second with 10.) Drake’s previous leader? A$AP Rocky’s “F**kin’ Problems,” on which he’s featured with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar; the track falls to No. 2 after eight weeks on top. “Started” dips to No. 7 from its No. 6 peak on the Hot 100.

— Macklemore & Ryan Lewis: One more note about the Hot 100’s top title: “Thrift Shop” notches an 11th week at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, tying DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” for the longest No. 1 run by a rap song in the chart’s history. Although Timberlake’s “Suit & Tie” at No. 2 shows a big points gain, expect “Shop” to stay at No. 1 and break Khaled’s record next week.

With the pair’s “Can’t Hold Us,” featuring Ray Dalton, pushing 10-7 with Airplay Gainer kudos, Macklemore & Lewis mark the first duo or group to score a pair of concurrent top 10 singles on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs since Jan. 24, 2004, when OutKast managed the feat. It could be considered a somewhat hollow victory, however: Since OutKast doubled-up in the top tier, a total of just 20 duos/ groups have reached the top 10 in that almost decade-long span.
