Bruce Springsteen returns to the weekly Hot Tours tally with the first 2013 box office grosses reported from his Wrecking Ball World Tour that played 81 shows in 2012 and resumed on March 14 following a winter break.

He began this year’s itinerary in Australia with multiple shows in four markets generating $25 million in ticket sales. Top numbers came from a three-show run in Sydney with an attendance count of 47,796 at Allphones Arena from performances on March 18, 20 and 22. Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena also hosted the Boss for a three-show engagement on March 24, 26 and 27 and drew a total of 46,740 fans for all shows. Both venues topped $7 million in ticket sales.

Rihanna makes her 2013 debut on Hot Tours in the No. 2 slot with the first dates reported from the Diamonds World Tour that launched on March 8. Touring in support of the 2012 album titled Unapologetic, she began her tour in Buffalo, N.Y. and will continue a North American leg until May, followed by dates in Europe and Australia through October. Among the totals reported from the first 10 dates on the tour, Toronto’s Air Canada Centre produced the top gross of $2.5 million from two sold out performances on March 18 and 19.

English pop star Olly Murs owns the third slot on Hot Tours this week with more than $10 million (£6.6 million) in ticket sales reported from 24 shows. Murs, runner-up from the sixth season of the “X Factor” in 2009, kicked off his 2013 U.K. tour on Feb. 26 in Newcastle. He performed at arenas in 12 cities with a total of 207,206 tickets sold through the final March date, a two-show stint at London’s O2 Arena on March 30 and 31. With “Britain’s Got Talent” 2012 finalist Loveable Rogues and teenage singer/songwriter Tich on tap as support acts, Murs wrapped his arena tour this week with shows in Dublin and Belfast.

Taylor Swift takes the No. 6 Hot Tours ranking with the first gross and attendance counts reported from the Red Tour supporting her fourth studio album released last October. Kicking off with a double-show engagement at Omaha’s CenturyLink Center, the country star played to 83,635 fans in the first four markets on the schedule. With sellout crowds at all six performances, box office revenue totaled more than $6.7 million. The tour will play North American arenas and stadiums through September. [Billboard.biz]
