The Voice’s Cee Lo Green is heading to TBS.
The Turner cable network has given a six-episode series order to an unscripted series featuring Green, it was announced Friday morning. “The Cee Lo Life” (working title) is expected to premiere in 2014.
The series will follow Green as he tackles a packed schedule of producing, recording and performing that includes a partnership with best friends Big Gipp, Khujo and T-Mo as they prepare to bring their hip-hop group Goodie Mob back to the stage.
“With his distinctive voice, winning personality and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, Cee Lo Green has risen to the top of the music industry,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies. “This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know Cee Lo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest-working men in show business. ‘The Cee Lo Life’ is certain to be a smart, fun and funny journey packed with a lot of great music.”
“The Cee Lo Life” is produced by Emerald TV Productions and Rogue Atlas. Green executive produces with Larry Mestel, Andrew Jameson and Eli Frankel.
The news comes after Green’s fellow Voice colleague Adam Levine inked a one-year, first-look development deal at NBC to develop scripted and alternative series and specials. In September, Green inked a development deal with NBC.
