Between the Top 50 album chart and the Top 10 immediately below, it isn’t surprising to see Columbia on top of the heap in the overall-plus-TEA competition this week. So far, it looks like signing Daft Punk was a pretty good idea; adding the 18k TEA total (so to speak) to the 325k actual albums sold, we get an envy-provoking 343k on DP alone. For #2 IGA, it was a combo platter consisting of The Great Gatsby soundtrack, Imagine Dragons and Robin Thicke (you do the math on this one—it’s fun). Looking at the year as a whole, album sales were up 2% vs. last week, down 2% vs. the same week last year and down 5% (or 6.1m units) year to date. Track sales were flat vs. last week, down 6% vs. the same week a year ago and down 3% (or 15.6m units) year to date. TEA sales were up 1% vs. last week, down 3% vs. the same week in 2012 and down 4% (or 7.6m units) year to date. [HitsDailyDouble]
