Skrillex signs Rusko to his OWSLA record label

Skrillex has signed British dubstep star Rusko to his record label OWSLA.

Skrillex set up the label, which is named after the “elite rabbit army” from Watership Down, in 2011. Rusko joins a roster that includes Skream, Sub Focus, Alex Metric and Blood Diamonds.

Rusko will release a new EP called ‘Lift Me Up’ on the label on July 2. To celebrate his signing, he’s premiered the first track from the EP and you can listen to it below. It’s called ‘TakeOff’ and has a strong drum and bass flavour.

“I grew up listening to drum and bass and jungle music,” Rusko told Rolling Stone. “I felt it was time to reflect this by making some of my very own. This really is the definition of music from the heart.”

Rusko released his second album ‘Songs’ last March (2012) and followed it that June with a collaborative EP with Cypress Hill called ‘Cypress X Rusko’. Meanwhile, Skrillex has recently revealed he will be collaborating with Diplo on a new project called Jack U. [NME]
