Stu Bergen has been named president, international, Warner Recorded Music according to a release sent out today by the Warner Music Group. In his new role Bergen will add responsibility for WMG’s recorded music business across Asia Pacific and Latin America to the territories he currently oversees, Canada and Continental Europe. He will continue oversee strategy across emerging markets, including Africa, Russia and India.
Begen, who was previously EVP, international & head of global marketing, will report directly to Stephen Cooper, WMG’s CEO.
In a statement Cooper said that, “This is an exciting moment for our business. The global music landscape continues to evolve at a dramatic pace and, at the same time, our own company is approaching a defining moment as we prepare to welcome Parlophone Label Group into the Warner Music family. Today’s changes reflect our readiness to embrace this unprecedented opportunity for growth.”
Bergen stated that, “I am looking forward to working more closely with our talented teams in Asia Pacific and Latin America as we continue to explore new opportunities for our artists and for our business in these dynamic and diverse regions.”
In the same release, WMG announced three other promotions:
Mike Jbara was named to the newly-created role of president, Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) worldwide and will report to Bergen. Jbara was previously President & CEO of WEA Corp.
Matt Signore was elevated to president, artist & label Services and will report to Brian Roberts, CFO, Warner Music Group. Signore previously held the title of GM & CFO of artist & label services for WMG
Matt Flott, who was formerly CFO, international recorded music was promoted to CFO, recorded music, and will also report to Roberts. [Billboard.biz]
