On Feb. 10th, 2006, the music industry lost producer James Dewitt “J Dilla” Yancey.  J Dilla was most known for his work with artists A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, The Pharcyde, Common and Janet Jackson.  Since his passing, there has been a yearly tribute/fundraiser called “D.C. Loves Dilla” held in his name.  This year will be the 8th tribute and will be held at the Howard Theatre.

Some artists who were fortunate to work with J Dilla perform and this year is no different, the line up includes De La Soul, Black Thought and Miguel Atwood-Ferguson along with additional artists Oddissee, Awthentik, Wes Felton and X.O., and DJ Mick Boogie to name a few.  Grap Luva will be hosting for the evening.

The event starts at 9 PM and tickets are only $30 if you buy them ahead of time.  Make sure to check it out if you’re lucky enough to be in the area and help pay tribute to this talented man.  For more information check out www.DCLovesDilla.com.
