Steve “Pav” Pavlovic’s smoking hot Australian label Modular Recordings is expanding into the U.K. and Europe with the launch of a London office.
The new office is managed by Adam Brooks, who joins Modular from Warp Records, where he helmed the U.K. campaign for Boards of Canada’s recent Top 10 album, and worked with such artists as Flying Lotus, TNGHT, Mount Kimbie, Brian Eno and Grizzly Bear.
With Brooks’ appointment, notes Pav, “we now have a very solid foundation from which to grow Modular’s U.K. and European presence, develop closer working relationships with our domestic partners, and bring future successes to the label and its artists.”
Modular’s homegrown roster is unparalleled. The likes of Tame Impala, the Presets, Cut Copy, and, historically, the Avalanches are all on its books, and Pav signed and delivered Ladyhawke and Wolfmother.
Back in 2007, the influential British music newspaper NME declared Modular Recordings “the coolest label in the world.”
The opening of the new London office coincides with the release of Modyssey, a 15 track “label introduction” featuring music from Tame Impala, Canyons, Van She, Bag Raiders and Pond remixed by the likes of Duke Dumont, Andrew Weatherall, Nicolas Jaar and Ducktails.
Modular is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary. Upcoming recordings on the slate include sets from Cut Copy and Pond.
