Toward the twilight years of a long career that has seen many shifts and turns, N.O.R.E. may be hanging up the rapper cleats for good.
In a recent interview with MTV News, N.O.R.E. said that Melvin Flynt 2 would most likely be his last album drop as a solo artist. The LeFrak, New York City rapper said he wants to be behind the scenes and that his days as a touring rapper dropping albums are over.
“I think I need to step away from the game in totality as an artist per say, as N.O.R.E. to give these new artists their full shot,” N.O.R.E. said in explaining his future in rap. “Will I stop rapping? No, because I love to rap. But will I be putting out albums and will I be touring? That’s the part, I think I want to fully sit back and try and be a CEO.”
N.O.R.E. began his Hip Hop career as half of the duo Capone-N-Noreaga. Their debut album, The War Report was highly acclaimed and is considered by many to be N.O.R.E.’s best work. In the late 90s, Noreaga pursued a solo career, subsequently releasing his debut solo effort, self-titled N.O.R.E., which would eventually go platinum.
In more recent news, Noreaga changed his name from N.O.R.E. to P.A.P.I. and released his latest project, Student Of The Game earlier this year.
Numerous other rappers have announced their intent to retire in the past including Jay Z, Lil Wayne and SpaceGhostPurrp, among others.
