Jay Z, Imagine Dragons Among Rdio's Top Streams of 2013

Jay Z and Imagine Dragons were among the top artists in both the U.S. and around the world at on-demand streaming service Rdio in 2013. Rdio listeners in 51 countries also heavily streamed Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Miley Cyrus.

The U.S. and global lists have a lot of overlap. Six songs appear on both top tracks lists and seven songs appear on both album lists. U.S. listeners preferred Bruno Mars, Rihanna, J. Cole and Justin Timberlake. Global listeners were more prone to stream Lana Del Rey, P!nk and Robin Thicke. Listeners in both categories loved Jay Z, Drake, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Imagine Dragons, Daft Punk and Miley Cyrus.

Rdio is the latest to release an overview of the last calendar year. iTunes has released its annual list of top sellers. Spotify has created a year in review website with usage statistics and lists of top music in various countries. Spotify’s top U.S. tracks and albums — it lists only the top 5 — are similar to Rdio’s top lists with one exception: The Lumineers’ self-titled album was Spotify’s #3 album of 2013 but doesn’t appear in Rdio’s top ten.

Below the lists you can find a playlist comprised of covers of the year’s top songs.
