Renowned author and sociology scholar Michael Eric Dyson, a university professor at Georgetown, explored the current state of hip-hop with iconic rapper Nas in Gaston Hall last night. James Peterson, director of Africana studies and associate professor of English at Lehigh University, moderated the event, “An Evening of Conversation with Nas and Michael Eric Dyson.”

“Nas is worthy of the highest critical and academic celebration in the nation,” Dyson says. “The Harvard recognition, as well as the publication of a book about Nas’ first album, offers powerful testimony to Nas’ elevated artistic and cultural status.”
