DJ Drama said that Young Thug is signed to Atlantic Records’ imprint 300. Drama, an A&R at Atlantic, spoke with Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club show this morning about working with Thug, and added that he is currently being managed by Birdman. He clarified, however, that Thug was not signed to YMCMB.

Two weeks ago, Buzzfeed reported that Young Thug had signed to Atlantic’s Artist Partners Group for a $15,000 advance, and that his relationship with APG had deteriorated to a point where Thug had stopped cooperating with them. In the article, a source suggested to Buzzfeed‘s Naomi Zeichner that Atlantic might try to shift Thug’s contract from APG to 300. To clarify: 300 operates as a label and their distribution deal is through Atlantic Records.

Zeichner also wrote that Thug was still under contract with Gucci Mane‘s Brick Squad 1017 label, which at one point was also under Atlantic. In his Breakfast Club interview, Drama said that Thug was signed to Brick Squad at one point, but did not elaborate on Thug’s current relationship with either Brick Squad or Gucci. It is currently unknown whether or not Brick Squad is still being distributed through Atlantic.

Drama’s interview with the Breakfast Club also featured a confrontation between Drama and DJ Envy, who was upset that Drama did not communicate with Envy about bailing on a Gangsta Grillz mixtape for the show due to possible friction with rival station Hot 97. Drama also talked about his role at Atlantic, the challenge for new Atlanta artists to stay relevant after their buzz fades, and patching up his relationship with longtime partner Don Cannon.
