Jack White to Create World's Fastest Released Record for Record Store Day

Jack White will attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records for the fastest-ever released record, studio-to-store, in the history of mankind to mark Record Store Day, April 19.

The indefatigable promoter, who once released a record by dropping it from the sky, will take the stage in Third Man’s blue room in its Nashville studios and record direct-to-acetate what will serve as the limited edition version of his next single, a live rendition of the title track from his upcoming LP “Lazaretto”. The masters will be rushed to United Record Pressing, which will immediately begin pressing 45s. The sleeves will be printed from pictures taken at the show. The finished records will be whisked back to Third Man to sell to awaiting fans.  As long as there are fans in line waiting to buy the single, United will continue to press and deliver them to Third Man to sell.

In addition, Whirlwind Heat will appear at Third Man to play their first live show since 2006 (and likely their last ever), as their classic “Do Rabbits Wonder?” LP is reissued on a variety of colored vinyl for Record Store Day.

Tickets for this whole day – “Ultra Tickets” – are extremely limited and will be available exclusively through the Third Man Records Vault to Platinum Members. Ultra Ticket holders will get to watch Jack White live recording his world’s fastest record, Whirlwind Heat’s afternoon performance, and will receive copies of both the record-breaking 7-inch and the Whirlwind Heat Record Store Day LP release. Vault Platinum members who are ticket holders need only show up, see Jack White play, hang out for a bit and eat, watch Whirlwind Heat and then, as they leave, pick up their bag with both releases.

The world’s fastest record will be made available for sale from the front of Third Man Records as soon as copies are pressed.

Non-Vault Members can join here.
