Beyonce and Nicki Minaj have always managed to co-exist. Both are international superstars, though Beyonce’s celebrity rivals that of just about any public figure. Both employ fan bases on social media that frequently barrel over the edge of “dedicated” to outright obsessed. And both, for better and for worse depending who leads the moral bridge armada on any given day, are sex symbols.
Yet and still, their paths have rarely collided. Nicki’s spoke highly of Knowles in the past, going as far to say, “Just her name alone defines greatness.” But aside from Nicki’s “Single Ladies” freestyle – which Beyonce apparently fawned over – and later adding a verse to “Sweet Dreams,” that’s about where the trail stops in linking the two together musically.

Beyonce and Nicki Minaj’s “Flawless (Remix)” has already completed part of its job: get people talking. With the rumors circulating of this record being the reason Nicki held “Anaconda” back momentarily to Beyonce addressing the firestorm of Jay Z, divorce and cheating rumors directly, the song was preordained to be a lightening rod before it ever made its way to the Internet. And since the collaboration’s quality equals or surpasses its own hype, radio might consider not playing Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” every five minutes.
