Dom Kennedy‘s latest album, Get Home Safely, was released independently, through a direct distribution deal Dom’s record label, The Other People’s Money Company, had with Best Buy department stores nationwide.  It was a pretty impressive maneuver, considering Dom isn’t a mainstream artist, and doesn’t have radio or Top 40 popularity. The result? 10,000 copies sold first-week and a Top 5 spot on Billboar’d Hip-Hop Album chart.

10 months later, Dom K. is still pushing his latest album, with a new video for “After School”, one of the LP’s more popular records.  The Futuristiks-produced song brings out the more pensive and reflective side of the Cali native, as he walks around and inside school grounds–fittingly so–and laments over the telling adolescent days that shaped him into the man he is today.

In case you didn’t know, Dom Kennedy will be performing live on Sept. 20 at The SOURCE360 Concert at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NYC.  You can purchase your tickets here.
