As previously reported, Meghan Trainor leads an all-female Billboard Hot 100 for a third week with “All About That Bass.” Plus, Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em,” featuring YG, hits the top 10 and Jennifer Lopez debuts at No. 18 with “Booty.” Who else shakes their way up the Hot 100 this week?
Echosmith: It’s been a steady rise for “Cool Kids,” up 21-19 on the Hot 100. The sibling band’s track was released in summer 2013, but only caught fire in the past few months. The quartet’s Jamie Sierota jokingly says the success was “definitely a slow boil, for sure.” But his sister, and bandmate, Sydney Sierota adds, “But it’s boiling!”
The song becomes a top 10 airplay hit, as it rises 11-10 on the Adult Pop Songs chart. Through Sept. 21, it’s sold 686,000 downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was commercially released in July 2013, but has sold 93 percent of its total since this June.

Jason Derulo: After charting for two months in the Hot 100’s lower reaches as an album cut beginning in June, “Trumpets” is living up to its name, making a triumphant entrance in the top 40 in its 17th week (48-33). Having been released as a radio single in mid-August, the song, which follows Derulo’s No. 3-peaking “Talk Dirty” and No. 5 hit “Wiggle,” vaults by 33 percent in airplay to 17 million in audience, according to Nielsen BDS. The radio activity helps spur a 25 percent gain to 59,000 downloads sold.
Maroon 5: As “Animals” growls 56-51, airplay accounts for just 8 percent of the song’s chart points. That sum should surge, however, now that the uptempo track has been released as the second radio single from the band’s new album V.
Childish Gambino: Hitting a new Hot 100 peak (71-67) in its 16th week, “V. 3005” continues its impressive crossover at radio. After logging a 20-week run on Rhythmic Songs, where it reached No. 8 in July, it enters Pop Songs at No. 39 – nearly a year after its release.
The Script: “Superheroes” debuts at No. 88, granting the Irish pop/rock trio its first Hot 100 entry since “Hall of Fame,” featuring will.i.am, hit No. 25 last year. “Superheroes” introduces the Script’s fourth studio album, No Sound Without Silence, due Sept. 30.
