Lorde works with producer Paul Epworth on song for 'Hunger Games' soundtrack

Lorde has teamed up with Adele and Coldplay producer Paul Epworth to record a new song which will feature on the soundtrack to the forthcoming Hunger Games film.

The song was recorded at New Jersey’s Lakehouse Recording Studios with the premises coming recommended to the singer by Bruce Springsteen. The as yet untitled song was recorded between August 28-29 with Epworth (pictured right) flying out from his London home to produce the track.

Engineer Matt Wiggins also took time off from recording the new U2 album to work on the song, which will play over the closing credits of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 when it is released in November.

“They said they got a call from the Springsteen camp, who referred us,” studio owner Jon Leidersdorrf told Billboard, who describes the song as “moody, dark and powerful.”

Earlier this week the teenage singer shared a photograph from the studio as well as a lyric sheet, confirmed to be taken from the Hunger Games song, featuring the line: “I’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm.”

In July of this year, Lorde revealed that she will curate the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1. The singer will work on the music for the third film adaptation from the best-selling book series and will also provide the lead single for the soundtrack, which will be released on November 21.

Lorde, who became the first female artist to win the Best Rock Video prize at the MTV Video Music Awards last month (August 24), has also recently claimed she is struggling to write new songs as the material sounds too similar to her first album.
