Clean Bandit crowns Billboard‘s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with “Rather Be,” featuring Jess Glynne (2-1), the culmination of a 37-week climb. The ascent ranks as the second-longest since the chart’s Jan. 26, 2013, inception, following Disclosure‘s 47-week flight with “Latch,” featuring Sam Smith.
“Rather” also topped Dance/Mix Show Airplay for a week and has spent eight non-consecutive weeks atop Dance/Electronic Digital Songs, selling 1.3 million downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It rose to No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The act (Jack Patterson, Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto and Milan Neil Amin-Smith) hit No. 3 on Dance/Electronic Albums with its debut album, New Eyes.
HARRIS’ HITS: Calvin Harris collects another hit on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Slow Acid” (No. 20), a preview track from his album Motion (due Nov. 4). The cut starts at No. 19 on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs (5,000).
Harris holds at No. 3 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Blame,” the chart’s Airplay Gainer. Featuring John Newman‘s vocals, it captured 47 million audience impressions in the week ending Oct. 21, according to Nielsen BDS, and jumps five spots each on Radio Songs (29-24) and the Hot 100 (31-26). Harris is the highest-ranked EDM act (of only two) on the Billboard Artist 100, at No. 37. (Avicii, at No. 79, is the other).
GUETTA ‘NOTHER: David Guetta grabs his fifth top 10 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs as “Dangerous,” featuring Sam Martin, darts 11-10. Guetta enters a three-way tie with Harris and Zedd for the most top 10s in the chart’s brief history.
‘WAVES’ SWELLS: Mr. Probz produces his best sales week yet with “Waves” (50,000), which hits the top spot on Dance/Electronic Digital Songs, rising 2-1. The prolific Robin Schulz-remixed track already spent two weeks at No. 1 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay in August.
“Waves” crashes 5-4 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, 18-16 on Pop Songs and 32-27 on the Hot 100.
‘PARACHUTE’ LANDS: On Dance Club Songs, Olivia Somerlyn flies to No. 1 with her first chart hit, “Parachute” (2-1). The track, co-written and produced with Nick Jonas, utilized remixes from Jose Nunez, Steve Smart and Reid Stefan, among others, in its march to the top. The “Parachute” video premiered exclusively on Billboard earlier this week.
DEAD IS ALIVE: Zeds Dead, which performed at Belgium’s Tomorrowland festival this summer, recently released the video for “Hadouken,” filmed outside the festival on the Smirnoff stage. Now, the track becomes the act’s first hit on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, entering at No. 22.
“Hadouken” starts with 337,000 U.S. streams (up 151 percent), with 97 percent from YouTube (non-Vevo) clicks. The duo (DC and Hooks) has charted three titles on Dance/Electronic Albums, including Somewhere Else, which houses “Hadouken.” It hit No. 4 in July.
