While no fatalities have been reported, NBC Chicago has revealed that sixteen concert-goers were hospitalized during Skrillex’s show at Navy Pier in Chicago last Saturday. An EMS source has reported that the majority of the hospital transports were drug related, while CrowdRX President Andrew Bazos, says a considerable percentage of the hospitalizations were due to alcohol. Though every city has varying regulations regarding on-site versus hospital treatment, Bazos, a physician and head of medical safety for SFX told NBC:

“The policy in Chicago is to take anyone who presents to the hospital…we’re here for the people who haven’t been smart and safety is number one.” Over 10,000 people were in attendance for Saturday’s show, and in response to the number of minors present, Bazos says, “It’s not fair to make the promoter take care of kids who don’t know how to behave… They’re young, and they’re often irresponsible.”
