St Vincent has released a new 10-inch to mark Record Store Day Black Friday, a yearly North American event run by independently-owned music stores that coincides with the one-day retail phenomenon that traditionally marks the start of the Christmas shopping period.
The record features two new tracks, ‘Pieta’ and ‘Sparrow’, both of which are currently streaming via Consequence of Sound.
According to the Record Store Day website, the songs were recorded with producer John Congleton during the same sessions that produced St Vincent’s self-titled fourth LP, which was recently named NME’s Album Of The Year 2014.
‘St Vincent’ was released in February and includes the tracks ‘Digital Witness’ and ‘Prince Johnny’ – both of which also feature in NME’s Tracks Of The Year list. Upon its release, NME labelled the album a record “for dancing and for feeling”, celebrating its “boldness” and ability to connect with the listener.
