Gavin DeGraw and country music star Lee Greenwood are ready to rock during the NHL’s marquee outdoor hockey game on New Year’s Day.
The music stars are set to perform during the the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic face off between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Washington Capitals in Washington, D.C. Their performances will be broadcast live on the NBC and on the CBC and TVA networks in Canada.

1980s punk star Billy Idol will perform from the main stage at home plate at Nationals Stadium before the puck drops on the Winter Classic game. DeGraw, a longtime hockey fan, will perform during the first intermission, before Greenwood and the U.S. Army Chorus entertain the NHL’s New Year’s Day showcase during the second intermission.
The Winter Classic comes before the NHL’s 2015 Stadium Series features an outdoor game between the San Jose Sharks and the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 21 in Santa Clara, California. Last year’s New Year’s Day Winter Classic was played at the frigid Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The west coast’s balmy answer in California to the east coast’s wintry outdoor game on Jan. 1, last year played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, is again expected to bring out the Hollywood stars on Feb. 21.
