Canada’s Juno Awards on Tuesday named retro-electro dance star Kiesza and rock-reggae group MAGIC! to perform at the country’s music awards on March 15, 2014.
YouTube phenom Shawn Mendes and Canadian rockers Hedley also join the early talent lineup unveiled by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. Kiesza, Mendes and Hedley promoted their participation in the upcoming Canadian music awards with videos that started streaming Tuesday on JunoTV.
The 2015 Juno Awards will air nationwide on the CTV network from Hamilton, Ontario. Last year’s Junos saw Justin Bieber booed when the Canadian pop singer’s name was called, even as he won the Juno Fan Choice Award. Robin Thicke also stirred controversy when he canceled his performance at the 2014 Juno Awards to rest his vocal chords.
Kiesza and MAGIC! earlier performed in June 2014 at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, which also air on the CTV network. The Juno organizers will make additional performer announcements in the coming months.
